The long-awaited cyberpunk-themed battle royale, Off The Grid, has officially exited early access and is now available free-to-play on Steam. Developed and published by Gunzilla Games, co-founded by District 9 director Neill Blomkamp, the game aims to redefine the battle royale genre with unique cybernetic gameplay mechanics and a gritty dystopian world.
What Is Off The Grid?
Off The Grid is a cyberpunk battle royale set in a futuristic dystopia on Teardrop Island a war-torn open world filled with both indoor and outdoor zones that emphasize vertical combat, aerial traversal, and advanced cyberlimb customization.
Players take on the role of modular cybernetically-enhanced operatives with access to 15 different cyberlimbs, each offering specific abilities. These limbs can be looted, swapped, and even destroyed mid-match, drastically impacting gameplay and tactics.
AI-Assisted Development With a Human Touch
Gunzilla Games confirms that Off The Grid utilizes AI-assisted tools for early concept art, audio samples, and multilingual localization. However, all AI-generated content is reviewed and polished by the development team. Importantly, no AI-generated content appears during live gameplay.
